The Mercury Club is proud to announce the winners of this years’ Hy Truman/Donald Goldberg and Hy Truman/Rae Kleinbaum Memorial Awards. Tyler Schmidt is the 83 rd male winner and Stephanie Garvis is the 32 nd female winner. Both Schmidt and Garvis recently graduated from Wayzata High School. Tyler Schmidt Schmidt is an outstanding gymnast. He is a four-time Junior Olympic National Meet Qualifier, a member of the Region 4 Team in 2019 and he competed in the 2017 Macabbi Games as a member of Team USA for men’s gymnastics. Just last month, he finished 3 rd All Around in the nation for ages 18, level 10. He will be attending the University of Illinois where he will continue to compete in gymnastics. In the classroom, Tyler had a 3.55 GPA and has been a USGA Academic All-American 2015-2019. He was also a member of DECA, a competitive school business club.
